Our purpose and principles
We are Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM), the asset management business of Legal & General Group. Our purpose is to create a better future through responsible investing.
Our clients are at the heart of everything we do. We draw on industry-leading expertise to seek to innovate constantly across public and private assets, index and active strategies, providing our clients with the solutions they need.
On behalf of savers, retirees and institutions worldwide, we manage €1.338 trillion in assets.1
Our index capabilities
Within index strategies, we manage €556 billion on behalf of our clients,2 meaning we’re the sixth biggest index house globally.3 We draw on our extensive experience and the combined experience of more than 50 index investment professionals to serve over 2,000 institutional clients across 20 countries.4
Our approach to index investing is driven by innovation. Rather than being a simple, low-cost way to access market beta, to us modern index investing is a quantitative investment capability, not a product range. LGIM’s Index Solutions team has the capability to build innovative indices that seek to allow clients to better meet their investment objectives.
Investors increasingly require multiple objectives from their index portfolio, but need to retain standard benchmarks. LGIM can deliver a flexible index strategy that targets these objectives within the portfolio construction process rather than in the index itself.
We can offer clients a wide range of ESG index products, from minimum ESG exclusion options to outcome-oriented strategies linked to measurable goals.
